About

To EXPERIENCE, is to encounter, to know, to endure, to feel.  With Myra you EXPERIENCE a condition.  With Myra, you are affected by her words.  With Myra, you feel a familiarity, especially if you know love.  There is usually a flutter, a tightening, a caress, a sensation, even a change of heart.  It’s something almost… spiritual even.

The natives have named it The Myra Smith EXPERIENCE.

The natives say Myra wasn’t born, she was created and nurtured to prepare us for her coming.

Her calling started at age four, singing in church where she was always chosen to sing lead.  At eight, Myra had her 1st recording EXPERIENCE singing with her father, a songwriter and percussionist.

Myra spent 13 years living in Germany as an army brat before relocating to the Hampton Roads area.

Before her relocation, Myra traveled internationally and within the states as A Praise and Worship Leader.  In her travels, she had the opportunity to open for Donald Lawrence, Byron Cage, Ted and Sherri, Evelyn “Champagne” King, Roy Ayers, and Micky Howard.

Although this voice should never be blended or hidden, she has sung background for Jean Carne and Ted Wynn.

Even Broadway couldn’t wait to have her in lights, so they found a place for her in four stage plays; “My God Your God”, “God Blocked It”, “Her First Love”and “Women Who Wear Blue Genes”.

God returned her back to her gospel roots once more to record with Lamont Bynum and Remnant (Gospel), Q Savage (Gospel Rap); reference work with Willie Owen, Just Jr. Productions, Big Men 4 Christ, and Small Affairs Music Group.

Myra has teamed up to sing lead and background with local bands JuJu and the After Hours Band, Karla Crump and Friends, and Against All Odds.

Ms. Smith has been sought after throughout the Tidewater area as well as Texas, South and North Carolina, Florida, New York, Maryland, DC, and Weisbaum, Germany for weddings, anniversary parties, a business grand opening, private parties, fundraisers, praise and worship conferences.

In 2008 she became part of the Fuzzy Wednesday’s (Fuzz Band) Family. That relationship birth the vision of her starting her own band. The Fuzz Band under the Direction of Duane Smith has open the doors to many musical opportunities.

Myra has opened for several Grammy Nominated and Award Winning Artists such as Brandy, Eric Benet, Freddie Jackson, Mint Condition, Keith Sweat, Silk, Carl Thomas, Eric Roberson, Ndambi, and  Keli Nicole.

You can’t describe what you’re feeling.  You can’t form words to describe your thoughts.  You just know you EXPERIENCE it every time you are around her.

It is almost… dare I say, paralyzing.
